Following the success of its original location, renowned restaurateur and former Cipriani Executive Chef Denis Franceschi partnered with the acclaimed team behind La Goulue, Orsay, and Brasserie Ruhlmann to open a second Bar Italia. When it came time to bring this vision to life, the team turned to Crown as the architect and designer of choice.
Tasked with transforming the interior of a former Madison Avenue restaurant, Crown led a complete gut renovation—reimagining the space from floor to ceiling with a focus on simplicity, elegance, and functional sophistication. Every finish was carefully selected to balance aesthetic appeal with durability, ensuring the space could withstand the demands of high-volume service.
A defining feature of the new design is the ultra-modern silver-leafed bar, crafted from 100-year-old structural beams salvaged from another Crown project—an inventive blend of adaptive reuse and contemporary luxury. The result is a refined yet striking space that reflects the spirit of the Bar Italia brand while elevating it to new heights.
Since opening, Bar Italia Madison has quickly become a Madison Avenue staple and a destination for the city’s most discerning diners, including celebrities, politicians, socialites, and royalty—solidifying its place as a quintessential New York dining experience.
